Tidelands Health offering scholarships to promising students pursuing health care careers

Local high school seniors pursuing higher education in the health care field can apply for a scholarship given by Tidelands Health.

The health system will award $1,000 scholarships to four graduating seniors preparing to enroll in college this fall with a health-related degree path. High school seniors in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties are eligible to apply on the Tallo student career platform. Deadline to apply is April 14.

“Through our robust student program, our team connects almost daily with young individuals already showing a deep interest and passion to serve others as a nurse, doctor or other health care professional,” said Caitlyn Green, manager of student and volunteer programs at Tidelands Health. “We want to support promising students through scholarships, shadowing opportunities and more to help them reach their educational goals and develop into dedicated health care professionals.”

Scholarship winners will be announced by the end of April. Winners will be selected based on the strength, completeness and merit of their application, as well as their profile on the Tallo platform.

Offered through the Tidelands Health McRoy and Jo Skipper Initiative for Learning and Teaching, the scholarships help invest in the development of future health care professionals to serve the fast-growing Grand Strand region.

In addition to scholarships, Tidelands Health offers a range of opportunities for students to learn about health care and pursue potential careers. The robust student program provides shadowing opportunities, internships and special events giving behind-the-scenes experience learning about nursing and rehabilitation therapy careers.
