    News for Immediate Release:

New officers take helm of Tidelands Health board of trustees
Two longtime members of the Tidelands Health board of trustees have taken on new leadership roles.
Dan Scheffing, who previously served as vice chairman, has assumed chairmanship of the 23-member volunteer board, which oversees the region’s largest health care system. Robert “Robby” Jones, who has served on the board since 2008, is now vice chairman.
A member of the board since 2011, Scheffing is a retired professional forester who serves on the forest advisory board for White Oak Forestry Inc. He also serves as a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Association of Consulting Foresters.
Scheffing is a board member emeritus of the South Carolina Wildlife Federation and serves on the steering committee of the Black Scenic River Advisory Council. He earned his bachelor’s degree in forest management from the University of Missouri.
Jones is branch manager and managing director-investment officer at Wells Fargo Advisors in Pawleys Island. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership positions in the community, including chairman of Teach My People, president of the Rotary Club of Pawleys Island and president of the Waccamaw Athletic Booster Club.
Jones has served as vestry member and junior warden of All Saints Church and as a member of the Clemson University tennis capital campaign committee. He earned bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing from Clemson University in 1987 and a certified financial planner designation in 2005.
Board members volunteer their time and expertise to serve as stewards of the not-for-profit health system. The board elects the chairman and vice chairman.
In accepting the role as board chairman, Scheffing expressed gratitude to outgoing chairman J. Edward Norris III, who will continue to serve as a member of the board. Norris joined the board in 2002 and had served as chairman since 2018.
“Ed has served with grace, professionalism and an unwavering dedication to the Tidelands Health mission of helping people live better lives through better health,” Scheffing said. “We are grateful for his tireless service as chairman over the past six years and look forward to continuing to tap his knowledge and expertise through his ongoing service as a board member. I’m honored to move into the role as chairman to help guide the health system’s strategic vision to serve our region’s growing health care needs.”
