Community health fairs offer healthy way to start new year
Get a jumpstart on your health this year by attending free community health fairs offered by the YMCA of Coastal Carolina and Tidelands Health.
The health fairs will provide free bone density screenings and blood pressure checks, as well as information to help you improve your health including physical therapy, weight-loss strategies, stroke awareness and prevention and more.
For a small fee, attendees can have blood drawn for a variety of lab services such as A1C, lipid panel and a comprehensive metabolic panel.
As the exclusive health system partner of the YMCA of Coastal Carolina, Tidelands Health and the YMCA designed the community health fairs as a convenient and streamlined way to get a series of health screenings and services to help people kick off the new year with a focus on health.
“A new year gives us all a fresh start, and what better time to focus on your health to make the most of the year ahead,” said Monica Grey, vice president at Tidelands Health. “These community health fairs will give you the chance to start 2025 with a priority on improving or maintaining your health long term through vital information and support from our team of experts.”
Community health fairs will be offered at all three YMCA of Coastal Carolina locations:

    • Jan. 23, 7-11 a.m., Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA, 5000 Claire Chapin Epps Drive in Myrtle Beach
    • Jan. 29, 7-11 a.m., Tidelands Health Georgetown Family YMCA, 529 Browns Ferry Road in Georgetown
    • Feb. 6, 7-11 a.m., Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA, 12965 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island
The health fairs are open to all community members to attend without an appointment. Additional lab tests offered during the health fair can help you gain deeper insight into your health, including cholesterol and blood sugar levels, thyroid function and more. Attendees wishing to have lab services are encouraged to call 843-520-8598 for more information or to schedule an appointment during one of the health fairs. A list of available lab services and costs (cash or check only) can be found here
“Taking charge of your health is the first step toward a happier, healthier future,” said David Byrd, CEO of the YMCA of Coastal Carolina. “At the YMCA of Coastal Carolina, we are proud to call Tidelands Health a trusted partner as we work collaboratively to improve the health and wellness of our region. These community health fairs are designed to give you the knowledge and tools you need to stay healthy or get healthy to live your best life.”
