    JOB DESCRIPTION - YMCA OF COASTAL CAROLINA

    Job Title: Director of Christian Emphasis, Inclusion and Belonging
    Reports to: Chief Executive Office FLSA
    Status: Full Time Salary

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development,

    healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the

    Director of Christian Emphasis, Inclusion and Belonging will provide emotional and spiritual leadership, support and guidance to all families and

    community members within the Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties. This position ensure the Y is reflective of our communities, supports staff

    and volunteer leadership, and strengthens our ability to address critical social issues now and in the future.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Develop a Chaplaincy program to serve members in all locations. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer chaplains for membership centers.

    Administers, recruits and directs Volunteer Center Chaplains including goal setting, evaluation, training, screening, evaluation, and

    implementation of local Chaplaincy Program.

    • Stewardship of our staff, members, and supporters by helping in times of need and celebration.

    • Develop internal communications to promote our Christian principles and incorporate into how we serve our members an the community.

    • Create devotions for staff, coaches, and volunteers to share with program participants and in meetings and programs such as our Active Adult

    programs, summer camps and Afterschool.

    • Lead volunteer Christian Emphasis, Inclusion, and Belonging committee to connect our community to the Y mission and create opportunities

    that integrate our mission and values into our everyday work.

    • Serve as the liaison to the Christian Emphasis, Inclusion and Belonging committees in each membership center.

    • Develop partnerships with local churches to bring the YMCA of Coastal Carolina to more locations and offer services to those in need.

    • Create, plan, and promote Christian-focused events, such as the Prayer Breakfast and Prayer Lunch.

    • Oversee Association-wide Christian education efforts for staff, members and volunteers including an annual Christian Leadership Conference.

    • Oversee ongoing development and training curriculum for staff and volunteers with respect to Christian Emphasis, Inclusion and Belonging.

    • Serves as an Association resource in development of spiritual services to members, volunteers, and staff while demonstrating sensitivity,

    discretion and understanding of other beliefs.

    • Equip and train members and volunteers in personal spiritual development skills such as prayer, study, and quiet time.

    • Serve as a resource to center Small Group Coordinators, Directors of Spiritual Development, and any future “Spirit-Mind” oriented staff

    positions.

    • Foster collaboration with communities of faith in Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social services, theological studies along with relevant work experience. Professional certifications or post

    graduate degree preferred. YMCA multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

    • Four or more years of pastoral/spiritual leadership experience and DEIB work, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

    • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit and collaborate with top community leaders.

    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

    • Strong organizational skills and effective communication skills to present information, gather feedback, and highlight risks, opportunities, and

    key business points.

    • Must have strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks and balance shifting

    priorities while maintaining confidentiality.

    • Ability to articulate best practice in the field of Christian Emphasis, Inclusion and Belonging.

    • Able to inspire teamwork with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

    • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.

    • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and assigned Redwoods trainings within 30 days of

    hire date.
