Avoiding Everyday Disasters
In working with small/medium businesses (SMB) we know activities that wouldn't phase large corporations can have a devastating effect on your small business’ livelihood. While the majority of us consider a disaster to be fire, theft, or natural disaster (hurricane, flood, lightning, etc.), there are a number of day-to-day events that could also be considered a disaster to your business if you’re not prepared. Steve Sexton will be discussing some of these events, to include attacks from hackers, security breaches, and employee mistakes.
Steve Sexton, a Partner at Baltimore Technology Group, LLC (BTG), enjoys working with small business owners and helping them to see the value in IT and not treat it as just another expense. Starting his IT career in 1996, he has worked for small and large companies in both the private and public sectors. During his 14 years as a contractor with the US Army he learned the importance of network security and process and tries to bring that same level of security to his current client’s networks. He believes we all have the responsibility to protect our client’s data and should take that responsibility very seriously. BTG works with companies in 8 states, from Massachusetts to Texas and lots of places in between. Steve moved to Pawleys Island in August of 2015 with his wife and daughter to be closer to the beach and stop shoveling snow. He looks forward to becoming more entrenched in the community and building lasting relationships.
